Yarra’s Edge Shaping Up

Melbourne’s Docklands has been undergoing extensive development for a number of years.

This is not surprising; riverfront housing is always in demand. The Docklands area in particular is popular, as it offers walk-able proximity to all the amenities of city living. Cafes, shops, markets and entertainment are just a short stroll away, yet still far enough to ensure privacy from city-visitors.

Yarra’s Edge, developed by Mirvac, is a prominent part of the Docklands development. Split into a number of different precincts, it sits on the southern bank of the Yarra near Lorrimer Street. The Marina, Park and River precincts were completed over the last dozen or so years; the latest addition is Bolte Terrace, otherwise known as Wharf’s Entrance.

The key feature of Wharf’s Entrance will be Mirvac’s Tower 10, branded Forge Apartments. Rising 100 metres high and featuring 229 luxury apartments, it will be Mirvac’s eighth tower on the Yarra. It will contain a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as carparks, bicycle parks and ground floor retail space.

Whilst Forge Apartments is the centrepoint of the expansion, Wharf’s Entrance will also include a number of other developments. As well as Wharf’s Landing, a public park, and Wharf’s Club, a café and recreation facility, Mirvac are developing 11 wharfside residences.

Designed for absolute luxury, these residences are all four storeys tall. They each feature four bedrooms and a double-garage, as well as private lifts and rooftop gardens. Some even have access to private marina berths. Mirvac’s similar developments in other precincts have sold for up to $5 million each.

Due to the need for comfort and luxury, EDGE’s U-MAXTM 150mm Front Glazed framing systems were chosen for a number of these constructions. Thermally broken and double glazed for maximum performance, these framing systems help ensure building inhabitants stay warm in winter despite the strength of dockside winds. They’ll also look great as part of this highly-visible development.

We recently visited Yarra’s Edge to see how the constructions were progressing.

As can be seen, everything is starting to take shape, although it will be some time yet before completion.

UPDATE: The residences have now been completed!
